My woodworking Journey
First project: Building a woodworking table.

My name is Juliana and Craig has become a woodworking mentor for me. I will be displaying some of the things that I am learning, as I proceed.
Now in my 50’s, I decided to take a crash course and dive into something that has interested me for a long time …. woodworking.
Currently, I am putting together a woodworking table which is quite a task. I may have bit off more than I could chew on this one, which is why I started working with Craig. He has kindly offered his help as I go along.
It’s a large table with many parts. There will be a space for drawers, a place to put my miter saw, a guide for the circular saw, and a surface for assembly.
My first challenge was putting together the frame. I began working on the frame before meeting Craig. As you can see in the image, that was a success. Although, it wasn’t without it’s trials. Since it is only me working on this, attaching one board to the other when you already have the challenge of a bad back is not so easy. After the main frame was built, I was getting into steps which I needed direction on. You could say that I met Craig at exactly the right time.
What I found through assembling the frame is that there is a real trick to knowing which screw or drill bit to use for the size and shape of wood you are working with. I learned by trial and error how deep to drill for the screw I intended to use.
After my first meeting with Craig, I discovered today a product to use to make the drawers glide more smoothly. I also learned more about stain vs paint finishes.
